Stronger Together in Recovery

Sand Stew Inc. is a non-profit organization with a mission rooted in the recovery community. Our name reflects our values: “Sand” symbolizes being dry or sober, and “Stew” represents a diverse mixture of people coming together.

 Founded in 1998, Sand Stew, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and connecting the sober community through engaging events, service opportunities, and year-round outreach. Our mission is to create a welcoming space where individuals in recovery can build lasting friendships, find support, and celebrate life—sober. 

 Our flagship event, Sober in the Sun, has been a Labor Day weekend tradition since 1989. What started as a small gathering has grown into a beloved sober music festival, bringing people together for live entertainment, community, and fun in a supportive, substance-free environment.

But our impact goes beyond the festival! Sand Stew, Inc. hosts sober dances, live music events, fundraisers, and community gatherings throughout the year, ensuring that individuals in recovery always have a place to turn. We also work closely with sober houses and halfway homes, inviting residents to participate in our events and volunteer opportunities, helping them strengthen their recovery network.

 In addition to providing safe and engaging events, Sand Stew, Inc. is working to expand our outreach and support for the recovery community. Our goals include:

• Sponsoring holiday drives to provide gifts for families in need.
• Hosting Thanksgiving meals at sober living facilities.
• Organizing coat and boot drives to ensure no one goes without warm clothing in winter.

We also participate in community parades to help spread awareness and connect with more people in the recovery community. While we don’t organize these parades, we take pride in showing up, representing Sand Stew, and sharing our mission with the public.
